T he Grade 11 ‘Long Walk‘ has had to change since most pupils find it difficult for this to live up to the expectations of the Journey. The Grade 11 experience will now comprise two elements. They will spend time during the course of the year at Table Farm, exploring various forms of leadership styles under stressful conditions. In physical and mental challenges, the groups will be monitored carefully in their performances in activities that will reflect their ability to handle certain situations. They will be required to learn delegation, respect for their fellow learners, harnessing initiative, executing a plan and so forth. All of this will be done outdoors. The second component will be a 6-day programme in and around Grahamstown where they will be able to put some of the knowledge gained into practice. They will attend lectures on ethics and moral values as well as participate in a two day hike.
