T he Grade 10s join the DSG girls on possibly the biggest adventure of their lives – a 21-day journey, following the Fish River from its source to the mouth. They will hike, cycle, canoe, run, camp, do community service and abseil in carefully-selected groups. It is a rite of passage that will test their character mentally, physically and emotionally. The Fish River Journey has become an iconic and unique experience in the unspoilt Eastern Cape. The boys and girls conquer their fears of the unknown with a day of activities but are also exposed to calculated risks. They commune with nature in the many biospheres of the Eastern Cape from Karoo-veld to coastal forest. It is not about the destination, but in getting there, hopefully as stronger, wiser, and more mature young adults.
