A ndrew and Cindy Renard moved into Holland House at the start of 2012 after joining St Andrew’s in 2007. Andrew teaches English and is Head of Advanced Programme English while Cindy is attached to Prep as the Director of the Children’s Arts Festival. Prior to moving to Grahamstown they lived in Port Elizabeth where Andrew was a Head of Department at Alexander Road High School and Cindy was the Co-ordinator of the Reach for a Dream Foundation.

They have two adult sons; Warwick, an architect currently working in Namibia and Graeme, a graphic designer based in Port Elizabeth. They do their best to create a family atmosphere in Holland House and, having guided their own two sons through adolescence, enjoy the challenge of helping other young men through this phase. A feature of life in Holland House is a regular “Mrs Renard’s period” on a Sunday evening, during which the boys have hot chocolate and brownies and a bit of “mom time.”

As the feeder house for Mullins, the Grade 8s in Holland House enjoy the benefits of their own space, and being the closest house to the dining hall! When they cross Knowling Field at the end of their first College year they are well prepared to continue their education in the House of Gentlemen.
