Interhouse Drama 2024

TONIB

On Sunday afternoon the 9th of June the first Interhouse Drama competition in many years took place in the Drill Hall. Agatha Christie’s ‘An Afternoon at the Seaside’ was divided into six acts so that all houses could contribute towards creating a full-length play. This format worked well as only one set needed to be created and performers could concentrate on rehearsing their parts.

It turned out to be a marvellous afternoon and all six houses are commended for their wonderful and entertaining performances.
Our judges, Mr Molony and Mr Bosman, had the difficult task of using a handful of criteria, such as ‘preparation’, ‘characterisation’, ‘use of space’, ‘dramatic and acting techniques’ and ‘use of costumes’ to decide on this year’s winners. The scores were remarkably close and the bar was set very high. However, well done to Upper House for walking away with the crown this year!
Special Awards:
• Best actor: James Barber (Armstrong)
• Best director(s): Mahle Hlanjwa & James Barrow (Graham)
