The Grade 10 Design pupils from St Andrew’s College and DSG visited the Volkswagen AutoPavilion and factory in Uitenhage during their Design Single Focus day on Wednesday 10 May. The Kariega plant has been building Volkswagen vehicles since 1951. Over 4 million vehicles have been built there to date. VWSA is also the largest private employer in Nelson Mandela Bay and contributes actively to skills development, community upliftment, and the economy in the region. The pupils enjoyed the display of history covering over 70 years of Volkswagen in South Africa along with a factory tour of Volkswagen’s state-of-the-art Polo production facility.
