Black History Month

During February, the Cawse Library acknowledged and celebrated the literary contributions of black South Africans and educated and exposed the College boys to our fractured history.
The library mounted a display showcasing the literature of black South Africans. Every day a brief abstract of one of the many books on display in the library appeared on the daily notice. A selection of these follows:
* 65 years of Friendship: a memoir of my friendship with Nelson Mandela” by George Bizos. This is the story of an unlikely friendship between two extraordinary men from different worlds.
* “Vusi: business & life lessons from a black diamond” by Vusi Thembekwayo.
Join Vusi on his inspirational journey from the township to the top echelons of South African business, judge of the ‘Dragon’s Den’ and CEO of an investment firm. Learn the secret of his success and how to shape your own future.
* Out of Quatro: from exile to exoneration” a memoir by Luthando Dyasop.
Quatro was the ANC’s version of a Nazi concentration camp or a gulag of the Soviet Union. Dyasop was accused of mutiny towards the ANC and sent to the Quatro detention Centre where he received daily beatings and endured back breaking physical labour. Decades after his release from Quatro, Dyasop has found the courage to tell his story.
