Independent Schools Cricket Festival

The College 1st XI got their Independent Schools Cricket Festival campaign off to a good start today with a solid win against St George’s College from Harare. Batting first College got off to a poor start but with a number of their batsmen getting runs, they were able to accumulate 252/8 in 50 overs. Half centuries were scored by opener Jake Coventry and captain Matthew Poole, with Murray Wilson contributing 40.
Matthew Beamish and Roman van Zyl put St George’s under early pressure with three wickets in the powerplay. This was followed up by a good spell from Joe Wostenholm who took 3/16. St George’s were eventually bowled out for 88, College winning by 164 runs.
