On Saturday 28 January, the St Andrew’s College U14s made an outstanding start to their rowing careers at the Grey High School Rowing Regatta on the Zwartkops river outside Gqeberha.
Facing up against their counterparts from Grey and Selborne College, crews who had also taken up the sport in the last two weeks, the College rowers emerged victorious in seven of the day’s nine events.
Max de Wet and Jack Hegarty won their single sculls finals while Rafael Carrara and Gregory White won the doubles event in an all-College final. As the day progressed, further wins came in the A, B and C quads events. In the final race of the day, with all three schools racing the Octuple, it was another commanding win for College rounding off a great day on the water.
Well done to all the boys for their commitment and teamwork they have shown so far!
