St Andrew’s College Matric Results 2022

12 580 full time candidates wrote the National Senior Certificate through the IEB this year with a 98,42% pass rate nationally, and 89,32% of the candidates achieving a BD pass that qualifies them to apply to study for degree courses at University.

The 2022 St Andrew’s College Matrics who wrote the IEB examination achieved a 100% pass rate, with all but one of the 77 boys achieving a Bachelor’s Degree (BD) pass.

Benjamin Terry is to be additionally congratulated for the exceptional achievement of being placed in the top 1% nationally in History.

A quarter of our IEB results were distinctions, more than half of them above 70%, and 81% of the results were above 60%. To achieve results in the “90s” shows exceptional commitment, determination and single-mindedness, and so we would like to recognise the following boys who achieved A+ results:

Business Studies: Connor Cook
History: Benjamin Terry
isiXhosa FAL: Zenande Simani, Mlobo Xotyeni, Lamlani Yawa
Mathematics: Aidan Reynolds, Dylan Heurlin, Matthew Powell
Mathematical Literacy: James Cowen
Music: Aidan Reynolds

Our boys achieved an average of 1,5 As per candidate. If we were to include the extrapolated results that we may have expected from our A Level candidates, based on their Grade 10 results, this value may well have been closer to 2 As per candidate. As a school that is non-selective academically and has no entrance exam, though, we believe that the value of our academic offering is also highlighted by the extraordinary success of our boys who are not necessarily the top academic performers, rather than just traditional measures. Without identifying any boys by name, we would like to share a small selection of these achievements with you.
