U15A cricket team faced the Scriberians

On Sunday, the St Andrew’s College U15A cricket team faced the Scriberians on Knowling Field. The Scriberians were created by former St Andrew’s headmaster, Mr Ant Clark – Clark in Latin, meaning scribe – hence The Scriberians.
The Scriberians declared on 230/6. Mr Ryan Dewey was in fine form, finishing on 59 not out off just 67 balls, Mr Carl Bradfield made 53 runs and Old Andrean Chris Benjamin made 25. In response the U15As were off to a steady start, led by William Beamish’s 39 which included seven well struck boundaries. The Scriberians’ spinners, both Cricket South Africa Eastern Province U18 2013 Week, Mr Odwa Xonxa (3/12) and Mr Grant Stretton (2/26) made it very tough for the juniors, who then showed resilience, closing out the day with a well-earned draw on 96/6.
