Ethan John awarded Honours for Service

Congratulations to Ethan John who has been awarded Honours for Service.
Ethan has involved himself in diverse activities since his arrival at St Andrew’s College. While he has often performed and led from the front in participation, so much of his contribution has been in service behind the scenes, which is what this prestigious award acknowledges. Ethan has initiated and organised and then advertised, supported and promoted cultural events with determination.
Not only has he served, but Ethan has also excelled, achieving Colours awards for Music, Chapel Choir, First Aid and Community Engagement, as well as a Merit award for Chamber Choir. Ethan plays flute at Grade 8 level and has played in the wind orchestra for five years.
Ethan completed his Level 3 first aid qualification and has served as a first aider for well over 120 hours, as well as being part of the leadership team. He has completed the Bronze, Silver and Gold standards of the President’s Awards. He has initiated projects for the benefit of the greater community, such as Graham house projects and sandwich drives during Covid. He has given about 250 hours of recorded service during his time at College. In addition, he has tutored as part of the Student to Student tutoring programme and the Interact tutoring programme.
He has written Maths Olympiads, competed in (and won) Bekgevegs, been part of the Astronomers’ Club, participated in and led the Speakers Society and rallied support for Interhouse events. He has been a proactive and influential member of the Transformation and Diversity Committee and a driver of positive change. This has culminated in his involvement in setting up a Student Wellness Council. Ethan has been a stalwart altar server and a dedicated member of the SCA and Chapel leadership.
Ethan has balanced his extensive commitments while maintaining top academic results in his A Levels.
He is a most deserving recipient of the Honours Award for Service.
