John Marshall awarded Honours for ServiceSep 27, 2022
The re-opening of the St Andrew’s College Sanatorium took place at lunchtime today. Mr Aidan Smith, Interim Headmaster, thanked everyone who had been involved in the renovation of the Sanatorium, including Gerrard Roach (Owner of Caleb Construction), Juandré Erasmus (Project Manager at Caleb Construction), Gareth Fletcher (Rousseau Probert Elliott) and Stephen Hartwanger (Senior Project Architect at Thembela Architects). Mr Smith gave special thanks to Mrs Carol Muirhead, St Andrew’s Business Manager who has driven the project and has put all her energy and skill into making it the success that it is, resulting in this magnificent building.
Mr Smith welcomed the San Sisters who make up an extraordinary team of skilled and kind medical practitioners. The Sanatorium is a place of comfort and healing, not only for physical illness but also for little and big boys who feel overwhelmed.
The Sanatorium was officially opened by Mrs Muirhead who cut the ribbon and unveiled the plaque.
On that plaque is a quote from Isaiah saying:
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for
I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10)
The Sanatorium building was blessed by Rev Richard Wyngaard, St Andrew’s chaplain.
