A privileged to host Mr Seth Mazibuko

We were privileged to host Mr Seth Mazibuko at College to address some history classes as well as assembly.
Mr Mazibuko spoke movingly about his life as one of the organisers of the 1976 Soweto uprising at the tender age of 15. His evocative talk mapped out the months before and after that dreadful day on which 81 children were shot dead by the apartheid police force.
He spoke about his subsequent arrest and incarceration in solitary confinement for 18 months before he was sentenced to 7 years on Robben Island.
He matriculated and then graduated as a teacher while on Robben Island, and he then committed his entire life to education.
His message to an appreciative and engrossed auditorium of boys was that they should commit their lives to being “stone gatherers” and finding one another in order to build a strong and flourishing country.
It was truly an honour to listen to one of South Africa’s elder statesmen in person at College.
