The Addams Family is a modern, lightly gothic yet humourous inversion of the 1960s all American picture-perfect family who all exhibit a somewhat benignly macabre lifestyle. The show skillfully blends an assortment of off-beat characters and dark humour with a wholesome message of family values and acceptance.
Congratulations to the production team from the Drama, Art, Dance and Music departments and well done to the pupils of St Andrew’s College and DSG for their brilliant performance and portrayal of the characters. Everyone involved has come to understand the meaning of the lines:
“When you’re an Addams … it’s family first and family last.”
What a privilege to watch live theatre again and experience the magic that is unique to a live performance.
