The Speakers’ Society held its final meeting for the year recently at the historic Nordon’s Restaurant, at The Cock House Guesthouse in Makhanda. The meeting’s
proceedings, conducted along the theme of “Crossing the Threshold”, celebrated the achievements of the Grade 11 cohort within the society as they move into their Matric year and leadership positions within the society.
We heard many excellent speakers deliver impromptu speeches on topics devised by outgoing Vice-Chairperson, Africa Matshingana in his role as Topics Master for the evening. Myles Boden was selected as best Impromptu Speech of the night and Ishan Panchal received Best Evaluation for his critique of Nchiro Nkutu’s speech.
The highlight of the evening was the appointment of the new leadership within in the society for their matric year. Ms Shezi and I were delighted to announce Khanya Nyembezi as the Vice and Ethan John as the Chairperson for 2022.
We are certain that the society will continue to move from strength to strength under their leadership.
