“Any kind of dancing is better than no dancing at all.” – Lynda Barr
On Sunday 3 October, our dancers took part in our International Ballroom and Latin-American dance grading day, held at Kingswood College this year. The grading was arranged by dance instructor, Francois van Eck. Students were examined by Miranda Botha, Vice-Chairperson of the South African Dance Teachers Association (SADTA).
The levels examined were Beginner, Level 1 and Level 2. While we are still awaiting the results, the examiner commented on the high standard of dancing. Our students can be very proud of themselves for keeping up their dancing through the challenges that life has thrown our way these past two years. Through lockdowns, quarantines, online dancing, solo practicing and very little partner dancing, our students danced through it all.
Dancers learn Ballroom dances such as the Slow Waltz, Slow Rhythm Foxtrot and the Tango; Rhythm dances such as the Boogie, Rock n Roll and Swing and lastly, Latin dances such as the Cha Cha, Mambo, Rumba and Samba.
Well done to all our dancers who participated on the day!
