This week, Mrs Thotyelwa Gladys Khadi celebrated 16 years working for Capitol Caterers, and 41 years at St Andrew’s College. Below is a letter from Mrs Khadi.
My name is Thotyelwa Gladys Khadi. I am a 65-year-old woman. I started working here at St Andrew’s in 1980 as a scullery. While I was working as a scullery, I also helped with the cooking. That’s when Management saw that I could cook. They promoted me to cook.
A few years later, the school outsourced the catering and Supervision employed us. After Supervision, I worked for Fedics. I remember that I worked ten years
for them. Then I worked for KKS and then Compass Group – SA. I started working for Capitol Caterers and still work for them as a cook for St Andrew’s College. In the years that I have worked for College, I have enjoyed myself. I felt like I have done the best for the headmasters, teachers and children, which felt like my own children watching them grow up in front of me.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank the school for allowing me to work for them. I would also like to advise the youth that still has a long way to go that
respect is the key to success. You must respect your Manager even if they are younger than you. When you wake up in the morning, you must have passion with a positive mind and energy. That is how you will do your best and bring out a great result in everything you do.
Lastly, I would like to say that the best company of all the companies is Capitol Caterers to work for. The Management allowed me to work up until I am 65 years old. I have learned a lot from them, and I wish Capitol Caterers the best of luck in everything that they do.
I wish all the best for the staff that I am leaving behind. I hope they will also reach the years that I worked. I am proud of myself, and I feel this is the time to enjoy myself with my family.
Thank you, St Andrew’s College.
