The St Andrew’s Community Engagement Team visited Eluxolweni Child and Youth Care Centre where they assisted with fixing the parking and play area. This was made possible by the College boy’s annual Valentine’s Day Roses fundraiser and 24-4-Smiley 2020. #Make everyday a Mandela Day!
Thank you to Roger and Jenny Wilkinson for sending out a team to help the community engagement staff.
St Andrew’s College boys took the Mandela Day challenge to do something special for someone in their community. Here is Ethan John, who took time to bake cupcakes for Forever Family Homes and Protea Children’s Home.
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead” – Nelson Mandela
St Andrew’s College community engagement office donated to Lulama Maseti Covid-19 Relief Soup Kitchen for Mandela Day. Lulama started the soup kitchen during level 5 lockdown in 2020 to support members of our community. Ncumisa Mzaza, our CE Officer, has since visited the soup kitchen to find out how College could assist and has continued visiting in 2021.
Thank you to College staff and boys who donate clothes to the Community Engagement office and made these donations possible to Dianne’s Soup Kitchen. “Umntu ngumntu ngabantu” – I am because of who we all are! Compassion, kindness and humanity that connect us together by sharing ourselves with others and caring for those around us.
