It’s with great excitement that we officially open the St Andrew’s College Climbing Gym.
The idea was conceived in 2019 and since then we have worked hard to make this dream a reality. Climbing at the school was born out of the Outdoor Club and driven by a small group of students. It has been through their passion that we have got to this stage and we have seeing the sport starting to take a foothold among their peers, growing week by week with the prospect of their own facility to now train in.
The Gym consists of three bouldering walls and a Moon board, with just over 120 square meters of total climbing space. The center piece of the gym is certainly the Moon Board, which is a state of the art Wall that uses Bluetooth and LED lighting to plot a climbers route. It is a universal board and will allow our students to train and compete in on an international standard.
I would like to thank all the parties at College who have worked behind the scenes to make this project a reality. I know it will certainly benefit ours boys for decades to come.
