The St Andrew’s Football Club had an outing to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) recently, with a set of fixtures against Priory Club. There was a lot of excitement from the boys and staff involved.
The day started with the U14As, who had a comfortable 5-0 win, with David Brits and Oliver Johns were the stars in the match, each scoring two goals. The second fixture was the U15, which was a more physical game. They worked hard but, in the end, they lost 3-2.
The last two games were the highlight of the day, as the 1st team had not played together in a while. The first game was a competitive match which saw the College side score the opening goal. Unfortunately, they could not keep up the momentum, losing 2-1. The second game saw the College 1sts side come up against a provincial league team. It was a great opportunity for the College team to see their strengths and where they need to improve in their age group. They worked hard on and off the ball, but the opponents were too strong for our boys. We lost the match 6-1. Kefilwe Nxumalo, Neil Karimba and Zachary Rugamba were the stars in the two matches.
