On Friday 19th March, St Andrew’s College officially welcomed a new group of Grade 10s into the St Andrew’s College Academy. The first cohort is now in Grade 12. The Academy was launched in February 2019 in partnership with Nombulelo Senior Secondary School. The school united to forge academic excellence.
This year, the Academy welcomes a second school, Mary Waters, into the programme, while the partnership between St Andrew’s and Nombulelo continues to grow from strength to strength. The Academy sees learners from Nombulelo and Mary Waters travel to St Andrew’s College four times a week
to receive tutoring lessons in English, Maths and Science.
These learners are also allowed to use St Andrew’s resources and have an internet connection. The aim is to identify boys and girls with potential in Maths, Physical Science and English and provide enrichment classes to maximize their achievement in these gateway subjects. In addition to the academic input, the Academy offers a range of mentoring and co-curricular opportunities.
