The Library Monitors’ Fun trip to Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth
On Wednesday afternoon 24th of February the Cawse Library took a team of four Grade 11 Library monitors to Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha to give them an Exclusive Books experience. The aim of the trip was to buy new books for the library. The Grade 11s were tasked with choosing books for the seniors whilst the librarians focused on selecting books for the younger readers.
Can you imagine the excitement of the boys when told that they could buy 100 books in this unique experience and not have to personally pay for any of them?
Food and fun characterised this annual library monitors trip making it one of the highlights of the year. The boys’ sleeves are rolled up as they are busy processing the 110 titles that they purchased at Exclusive Books. Another perk of being a Library Monitor is that you are first in the queue to read the new books!
This trip also marked the anniversary of last year’s research trip to Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth for the first Interschools’ quiz which was successfully implemented in 2020 by Liam McNaughton and John Marshall. Last year’s quiz centered on the first two books of ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’, by Daniel Handler. This year, the boys plan to use a variety of books in their quiz.
