Each House put their best athletes forward for the annual Pancake Relay Race, held over an obstacle course around Lower Field this week. The event took place to celebrate Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent. Lent is the season in the church’s calendar for a time of fasting,
reflection and repentance.
The object of the relay race is to run with a pancake in a pan along the obstacle course, while flipping the pancake at a point along the course, before handing over to the next runner.
There were three races, juniors (Grade 8 and 9), seniors (10 to 12) and an Inter-House relay with one boy from each grade. Houses were assigned points from each of these races.
The overall results:
1st – Upper
2nd – Armstrong and Graham
4th – Espin and Mullins
6th – Merriman
