The Cawse Library once again enjoyed welcoming the latest group of Grade 8 boys to its space.
David Redfern enhanced the “Amazing Place” theme and included the innovative idea of giving each boy a special memento of a personalised Cawse Library pencil case branded with the “Class of 2025”.
The new boys had fun whilst learning about their new space and were given the task of collecting as much information about the library as possible within 45 minutes. On completion they had to get their library information sheets stamped by the librarians and these were then used as entries to a competition sponsored by the Cawse Library.
The winners of these generous R300 book vouchers were:
• Owen Kanyemba of Upper House
• Jaydan Ngugi of Armstrong House
• Louis George Nchindo of Merriman House
• Kala Sebonego of Graham House
• Liam Cowen of Upper House
At the end of their library tour a very welcome steri-stumpie awaited the thirsty boys.
Thanks must be made to David Redfern, Nic Venter, Africa Matshingana and Jacob Erasmus for assisting and leading the tours in this year’s Orientation programme. A special thank you must be made to David Redfern for coordinating this programme for the past 4 years at St Andrew’s College and to the rest of the boys who have been committed and enthusiastic members of the Library monitors’ club the last four years.
The Grade 8 boys are encouraged to speak to Nicholas Venter, Head of Grade 8s in the team, if they are unsure about anything library-related and they will be directed to the relevant support.
