Extreme Reading at College

It has been an exciting time at College with the Reading & Watching Club running another exciting contest which
the boys loved. #extremereadingatsacschooltone2020 was the hashtag used to mark the first contest of the year.
#Extreme reading contest Term 1, 2020 is now complete and the results of the competition are as follows:
• David Redfern was awarded 1st place in the latest Extreme Reading Competition. This means that
he walked away with prize money of R3 000. David impressed the judges with his submission of
the motorbike entry, which was accompanied by a detailed, well thought out review of Robert Frost’s
poem “The Road Less Travelled” in ‘African Sky Blue’. His review provides an alternative to the prevailing
culture which encourages instant gratification. David is planning to use the money to purchase motorbike kit. Congratulations David!

• Tied for second place were Alex Hutton and Matthew Grunewald who were each awarded a prize of R1 500.
In his entry, Matthew Grunewald is seen reading ‘Push’ by Tommy Caldwell whilst rock climbing.
Alex Hutton is reading ‘Rock Climbing’ by Chris Sharma. A big thank you to everyone who entered the competition.
The judges were faced with the difficult task of choosing the best photographs from many good entries.
