Wise words

Good morning dear friends,

I am reminded this morning of a powerful quote from Eric Liddell (Scottish Olympic Champion and international rugby player, and missionary in China), ‘Circumstances may appear to wreck our lives and God’s plans, but God is not helpless among the ruins. God’s love is still working. He comes in and takes the calamity and uses it victoriously, working out His wonderful plan of love.’ At times, you and I may feel helpless and even defeated. We may be tempted to give up on ourselves, our future, and indeed our faith. May I encourage you today: even in these desperate times, when we don’t see the Lord at work, and may even feel that He has deserted us, you can be sure of this- the Lord is still working! He is more than able to weave into His wonderful plan of love, all these current circumstances. He loves to make beautiful things out of what appears to be ruins in the eyes of the world. His purpose and plans cannot be defeated. Remember He used the gruesome death of His Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, to bring about our glorious redemption from sin.

Here are some Bible verses which declare again the indestructible, all overcoming love, power and plans of the Lord. Read on them and be filled again with real and lasting hope today.

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39)

19 But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. (Genesis 50:19-20)

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.  (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

‘Waymaker, miracle worker, Promise keeper, light in the darkness. My God, that is who You are… Even when I don’t see it, You’re working
Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working. You never stop, You never stop working.’ (Leeland)

Have a most wonderful day!

Every blessing

Father David
