The Ash Wednesday service took place this morning in Centenary Hall and the Grade 7 pupils from St Andrew’s Preparatory School joined the senior College pupils as they took part in the service. Ash Wednesday is one of the most popular and important holy days in the liturgical calendar. Ash Wednesday opens Lent, a season of fasting and prayer. Jesus sacrificed his life for us and our salvation – Jesus gave of Himself for us: Lent is our opportunity to give of ourselves to Him in sacrificial acts of giving up things to focus on Him.
31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
