The 1st Water Polo team traveled to the fair Cape recently to participate in the Annual Paul Roos water polo festival. This festival is a one of a kind opportunity to get many games under your belt, without any real results. (We obviously kept our own scores to see how we featured).
We were exposed to some of Cape Town’s huge winds over the weekend, with trees falling down, running races cancelled and quite a bit of general destruction, however the water polo still went on.
We played 9 games over the weekend against the following opposition: Paul Roos twice, Clifton twice, Rondebosch, Bishops, SACS, Reddam and Wynberg. The Blues played some good water polo over the weekend and we won 6 games, drew 2 and lost one.
What was most impressive, on day 1 we drew with one of the teams and by day 3 we beat that same team by 4 goals.
This was a great way to get the season started and fantastic preparation for the year ahead.
