The President’s Award

Gold Standard:

Ross Nagel has achieved the Gold Standard of the President’s Award, which is affiliated with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

He has been actively involved in the service component and he has completed 72 hours of community service over the past year. These hours extended over a variety of areas, including:

  • serving on the Community engagement committee where he coordinating and organised various community service events;
  • teaching pupils from Good Sheppard to play chess and
  • planning and helping with various school and house events.

Ross’ sport component was athletics, and he is a talented middle distance athlete.

The Grade 10 John Jones Fish River Journey qualified as his Adventurous component of the award.  Ross completed the residential project in Cradock during the April Holidays earlier this year and he was involved in various outreach activates, such as:

  • helping at a youth skills centre with various craft and woodwork skills;
  • visiting the elderly at a retirement village; and
  • helping to restore the food tables and benches and prepared and served lunch at a local shelter.

Ross’ skill that he has acquired is choir. He has proved to be a talented chorister over the past 4 years, attending many choir camps. He participated in the College choir tour to Russia where the choir achieved a silver award at the World Choir Games.

Silver Standard:

Congratulations to James Stadler for achieving the Silver standard of the President’s Award.

Bronze Standard:

The following boys have completed the bronze standard of the President’s Award.
