Swimmers participate in the Madibaz Gala

Six St Andrew’s College swimmers participated in the Madibaz Gala held at the Newton Park pool in Port Elizabeth recently.

Joss Hempel distinguished himself by breaking the meet records and winning first place in the 50 and 100-metre freestyle and butterfly events. He also secured a second-place finish in the 200-metre Individual Medley.

Oliva Lange won first-place in the 200-metre breaststroke and second-place in both the 50 and 100-metre breaststroke, improving on the meet records for these two events.

Haydn John featured in a third-place finish in the 200-metre Individual Medley.

Martin Wolmarans won first-place in the 50-metre backstroke and second-place in the 50-metre butterfly in a time that was faster than the meet record.

Scott Ritchie and Oliva Lange joined forces with swimmers from the DSG to secure a third-place finish in the 200-metre Mixed Medley Relay.

Well done to these swimmers on their fine performances.
