Josh Cowen recently attended the SA U20 Water Polo camp in Durban. The objective of the camp was to select a team for the FINA U20 World Championship to be played in December 2019.
On Friday evening, the boys had to swim 10 x 200m under 3 minutes each. Josh completed all the 200m and made them comfortably under the required times.
On Saturday, he played 2 hours of Water Polo in the morning where he was tested at the highest level and put under a lot of pressure. He has never had the opportunity to train and play against players with this experience before and he thrived in this environment. Josh adapted well and competed equally with all players.
The 2nd session of the day was a 3 hour session where Josh adapted to the environment. Josh played extremely well and improved during the camp and the coaches where happy with his overall play. They were impressed by his speed, shooting and awareness of the game.
On Sunday there was another 2 hour session in the morning where the players took part in various matches. Josh continued with his improvement over the weekend and he was happy with his overall play and the opportunity to attend the camp.
Josh played extremely well for his age, size and skill compared to the other players and should be proud of this achievement.
