Revived Inter-House Rowing Competition

A revived Inter-House Indoor Rowing competition took place at St Andrew’s College on Friday 12 July in the Centenary Hall, for the first time featuring live racing and results projected for all the competitors to view.

Senior and Junior teams raced in relay events of 4000 and 2000 meters respectively with a slick and well-prepared Graham House coming away victorious in both age groups and some close-fought battles for the remaining positions behind. An invitational Rhodes University team also took part, coming through a few seconds faster than the Graham House team, much to their relief!

Representatives of each House also took part in a short sprint race over 100 metres, Jason Thomas and Liam Little, representing Graham and Merriman tied for first place in the Senior event with Scott Ritchie of Mullins just edging out Graham’s Dan Cotton in the Junior event.

From the combined results of all events, Graham House were the overall winners ahead of Merriman.

Well done to all those who took part and for the very enthusiastic support from all the teams!
