The St Andrew’s College Hockey Club had one of the most successful trips to Queen’s College in many years, winning 6 of the 8 matches played, but all teams played constructive and entertaining hockey.
Both U14 A and B sides won. The U16B and C sides played exceptionally good quality hockey to out-perform their opposition. The C side convincingly winning 5-0, with Kingsley Maswanganyi, Jack Solomon, Brad Barrow and Lewis Henaghan putting in excellent hard-working performances.
Unfortunately, the U16A and 3rd teams lost their matches. The 2nd XI were dominant in their match winning 2-0. James Green and Tim Simpson having very good games.
The 1st XI were not at their best in the first half, and were lucky not to have been a few goals behind. Some excellent goal keeping by Jono Shamwana and defensive work by Nic Brotherton kept St Andrew’s College in the match, until a break-away goal was scored. This gave St Andrew’s College the chance to organize and compose themselves to dominate the remainder of the match, finally winning 2-0.
