The Bell Note, the history of rowing

The Headmaster was delighted to welcome Pollos Purdon to College yesterday to officially hand over copies of ‘The Bell Note’ to the school. This story of the history of the St Andrew’s College Rowing Club captures the 60 years of rowing in photographs, anecdotes and reports from oarsmen and coaches. Researching and compiling ‘The Bell Note’ was an epic endeavour, masterminded and managed by Pollos.

Seen in the photograph are, from left to right, Lisl Griffoen whose proof-reading skills were invaluable; Ed Goodier, Director of Rowing; Pollos Purdon; Alan Thompson, Headmaster whose personal interest in the project was invaluable; Angie Marriner, the Foundation Office Director, who supported the project in a number of ways and Lin Andrew, the College Archivist, who researched and sourced much of the material.
