Positive Rugby during the Grey Festival

Miles Danckwerts of St Andrew's College, during the Grey High School Rugby Festival match between St Andrew's College and Jeppe Boys High at Grey in Port Elizabeth, Saturday 23 March 2019.

The St Andrew’s College rugby players took part in the Grey festival last weekend. The U14s started out with a tough 13-13 draw to St John’s College, followed up with a hard fought loss to Framesby on Saturday.

The U15s managed to stage a very good comeback win against St John’s with two excellent tries at the end of the game by Siya George. They struggled against the bigger boys from Framesby losing the Saturday fixture.

The U16s got off to a slow start and struggled on the Thursday going down to St John’s. They were up against a much bigger and highly rated Framesby team on the Saturday and managed to win this game 7-0. The boys showed a lot of courage to defend their slim lead.

The 1st XV played against St John’s on Thursday. They put in an impressive display and won the game 31-0. On the Saturday our boys went against a physical Jeppe Boys team. St Andrew’s College were down 3-12 at half time and had to dig deep for the second half. The boys did this really well and won the game 13-12.

The St Andrew’s College boys were excellent as a club at the festival. A huge “Thank you” to the boys who came to support our teams.
