Swimmers represented at Nationals

Martin Wolmarans, Oliva Lange and Joss Hempel swam in the South African Junior Nationals in Durban from the 20th to the 24th of March. This is competing against the cream of the crop of South African age group swimmers. Although Oliva was the only medal winner (200m breaststroke) Martin and Joss made numerous finals with both of them having close swims and narrowly missing medal opportunities by finishing 4th in some of their races.

Results as follows

Oliva Lange (boys 15)

3rd – 300m breaststroke (winning the bronze medal) in a time of 2 minutes 29.63 seconds)

10th – 50m breaststroke in 32.49 seconds

5th – 100m breaststroke in 1 minute 10.49 seconds

Martin Wolmarans (boys 16)

5th in the final of the 100m freestyle, with a South African Qualifying time 53.43 seconds

4th – 50m butterfly

4th – 50m freestyle

Joss Hempel (boys 14)

4th –  100m freestyle with a time of 56.20 seconds

9th – 200m freestyle in 2 minutes 07,21 seconds

6th – 50m butterfly in 27.97 seconds

6th – 50m freestyle in 26.00 seconds

4th – 100m butterfly in 1 minute 01.90 seconds
