On Saturday the St Andrew’s College Pipe Band took part in the annual Knysna Celtic festival. The competition consisted of three sections, a Street March, a March Selection and a March, Strathspey and Reel. The St Andrew’s College Pipe band, boosted by a couple of experienced Old Andrean pipers, was the only school band to compete at this event, competing against a number of open bands from Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Knysna.
The band competed extremely well, with a high level of confidence and enthusiasm in all three sections. As a result the band placed fourth in the MSR and third in the March selection respectively.
The tour was an extremely fun filled tour, capped off with supporting and playing for the 2nd Waterpolo team at the Knysna Waterfront on Sunday morning, which was appreciated and enjoyed by all.
