At the end of 2018 we say farewell to four well-loved staff members and friends.
Alan Redfern has been the Deputy Headmaster at St Andrew’s College for six years. His widespread contributions to the school have stretched from introducing the Leadership and Mentorship Programme, to his numerous involvements in academics, sport in both hockey and water polo, and his huge involvement in the annual John Jones Fish River Journey. Mr Redfern looks forward to joining Stanford Lake College as Headmaster in 2019. Thank you for you amazing contribution and support of St Andrew’s College over the years.
André Bouwer has been at St Andrew’s College for 37 years teaching Afrikaans, and was also the HOD of Afrikaans for several years. Mr Bouwer is a passionate fisherman and his contribution to Angling at College has been amazing. He spent a great amount of time at ‘The Shack’ and on numerous other fishing trips both with the College boys and staff members, all who have learned so much from him over the years. Our grateful thanks to André and we wish him a very happy retirement.
The St Andrew’s College Pipe Band has enjoyed a very successful year and celebrated their 80th Birthday in 2018. On that brilliant note we bid farewell to Angus Nixon who has so ably lead the Pipe Band for the past two years. The inaugural St Andrew’s College Highland Gathering that took place in September this year was a great success and we thank Angus for his huge contributions to this event. Mr Nixon moves to Pretoria and we wish him every success for the future.
Erika Esterhuizen has been at St Andrew’s College since 2015 as the HOD of Information Technology. Here contributions to the school over the past four years are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your service to College and we wish you well for the future.
