60 pupils from St Andrew’s College and DSG gathered on 15 September, World Clean-up Day, at the local riding club to pick up litter which had blown there from our local municipal dump. They picked up 214 bags of litter in just over 2 hours. This made a massive difference to the visual landscape for those entering and exiting Grahamstown via Cradock Road. More importantly it made the students aware of this type of pollution: the plastic shopping bag. Hopefully much more thought will go into the simple question we are all asked daily at the grocery store: “Plastic?” Thank you to the pupils for their service to Grahamstown.
