St Andrew’s College has a new Internship Programme based in the Cawse Library which has been introduced by Vuyokazi Jamieson the school Librarian. The purpose of the programme is to promote learning and forge friendships. Lihle Khonze is in her second year at the University of Fort Hare studying Library Science and has been working at College during her university holiday.
Vuyokazi met Gladia Chelza while at a conference in Poland in 2017. Gladia comes from two different school libraries in Lyon, France. In both schools she serves teenagers and young adults and she will be spending five weeks at the College Library.
“It is amazing to see what a school library can be when the school community decides to support it.”
In the upcoming five weeks Gladia is determined to widen her scope in terms of learning and keeping up with global trends in libraries. The Cawse library is constantly seeking opportunities to be the best school library and to be a hub that supports Library Schools to train their graduates by providing in-service training.
Both interns plan to visit other local libraries, for example, Nombulelo School in Joza, Rhodes University, Makana Public library and others.
