A feast of music has been enjoyed at the annual Youth Music Festival which got off to an excellent start on Tuesday afternoon with two wonderful choral concerts.
Yesterday the auditorium of the David Wynne Music School was packed with pupils, parents and teachers all listening to young soloists of varying playing levels and instruments. If the bursts of enthusiastic applause were anything to go by, they were having a lot of fun in there!
Last night we were treated to beautiful and exhilarating performances from the Junior and Senior Ensembles. Performers from many school in Grahamstown showed that music is alive and well in our city.
Don’t miss out on the rest of the festival. This evening the Senior Orchestra’s from across the schools in town will perform in Centenary Hall at St Andrew’s College. On Friday there will be a Marimba performance and workshop by Magdalena de Vries. The festival will culminate with the Gala Concert on Friday 18 June. It starts at 19h00.
