St Andrew’s College were asked to bat first vs. Kingswood on Saturday on Gane Field. Both teams felt there would be enough life in the pitch to bowl first. St Andrew’s openers Murray Koster and Peter Jarvis were however resilient and showed sound temperament allowing St Andrew’s College to establish a firm base from which to set up their innings. Kingswood bowlers Blaine Archibald and Aidan Meyer remained determined throughout the morning, but Kingswood will rue their missed opportunities created by some superb deliveries from Josh Von Holdt.
Peter Jarvis compiled a character building 111, Chris Benjamin a fluent 76 and David Rushmere a clinical 37 not out off 35 balls. St Andrew’s College declared on 249/3. In response captain Nick Wilmot batted with a gusto, but the College bowlers were up for the challenge dismissing Kingswood for 104. James Quarmby 4/31, Robert Quarmby 3/25 and Chris Norval 3/42 spearheaded the St Andrew’s College attack backing up their batman’s’ effort and rounding off a good win for St Andrew’s.
