Cricket Club Report vs. Selborne College

The College 1st XI lost the toss vs. Selborne College in East London on Saturday and were asked to bat first in good batting conditions. The College batsman showed sound discipline in the first session setting up a strong position for the session into lunch on 94/2 along with a healthy run rate. David Rushmere gained control and the momentum of the innings when on 41 off 38 balls and opener Murray Koster was looking solid on the other end. David Rushmere out LBW led to a flutter in the change room, but College recovered to 131/4 With Murray Koster still at the crease.

Taine Elshove was the pick of the Selborne bowlers especially in his second spell bowling wicket to wicket with good pace. Murray Koster played an indifferent shot and after a healthy position suddenly College found themselves on 143/6. Selborne applied the pressure with their spinners and soon after lunch College were all out for a 160 runs.

Selborne’s innings was beautifully manufactured by Matt Dewar who finished on a flawless 54 not out seeing his team home with a fine win for Selborne by 6 wickets.
