#AcademicExcellence Project officially off to a start

Tuesday 19 January 2016 officially marked the start of the extensive building renovations planned for the Spencer Chapman block, the first phase of the St Andrew’s College #AcademicExcellence Project. This project will transform our classrooms, science labs, lecture theatre and library into ultra-modern, technologically-enabled, multi-use facilities which will match those of leadings schools throughout the world.

Mr Alan Thompson, Headmaster of St Andrew’s College officially handed over the site to local Grahamstown contactors who begin work on Phase 1 of the project. Phase 1 encompasses the renovation of the seven science laboratories in the Spencer Chapman block into specialist Life Science and Physical Science laboratories and the construction of additional preparations rooms.

Seen at the handover of the site is Mr Andrew Thomson (Thembela Architects Port Elizabeth), Sazi Sandi (St Andrew’s College Head Boy), Mr Neels Heunis (CM Heunis Building Contractors Grahamstown), Mr Alan Thompson (Headmaster of St Andrew’s College) and Mr Peter May (KWMH Quantity Surveyors Port Elizabeth).
