The Matrics of St Andrew’s College, Grahamstown, have excelled in the 2015 Matric Examination with 100% pass rate, and a record number of subject results above 80%.

Five boys – Matthew Shaw, Uli Ratsibe, James Scott, Timothy Mountford, and Myles Brown – achieved 6 distinctions.

Boys who achieved 5 distinctions were John Baines, Adam Godlonton, Stuart Hobson, Martin Simango, and Murray Long.

Boys who achieved in the top 1% in their subjects nationally are: Brendon Starr for English Home Language, Timothy Mountford for Mathematics, Kamogelo Kekana for Dramatic Arts, and Uli Ratsibe for Music.

St Andrew’s College Headmaster, Mr Alan Thompson, said he was especially proud of the fact that 2015 had seen some really positive improvement across a number of important subject areas, which reflects well on the effort and attitude of the boys and the commitment of their teachers.

The St Andrew’s College #AcademicExcellence programme seeks to create an environment of absolute excellence in academics, and will see a complete rebuild of the academic facilities at St Andrew’s College starting in 2016. This is just one component of a programme that includes the integration of IT into teaching and learning and the implementation of a world-class iPad project, as well as the introduction of Cambridge A-levels.
