The St Andrew’s College 1st XI dominated the day on Lower after being sent into bat by Dale College on Saturday. The pitch was beautifully prepared by Mr Roger Wilkinson giving the bowlers and batsman bounce as well as pace to work with. Anthony Dakin and Chris Benjamin showed good discipline after an early wicket and compiled a magnificent 243 run 2nd wicket partnership. Anthony Dakin top scored with a fine 155 run century and Chris Benjamin a mature 101 not out. St Andrew’s College finished on a formidable 314/2 in their 50 overs.
The Dale batsman A Fassi (42) and S Mzanande (39) applied themselves early on, but the St Andrew’s spinners James Quarmby (3/31) and Simon Taylor (3/35) found the breakthrough and Dale College were not able to recover. Dale were dismissed for 138 runs and St Andrew’ College won by 176 runs.
