CITATION FOR HONOURS AWARD FOR SERVICE

Matthew Shaw

Matthew Shaw has made a remarkable impact on the cultural ethos of College life, and led by example in all he has done.

Matthew has been awarded Colours for Chapel Choir, First Aid and Chamber Choir in recognition of his leadership, participation in and sustained commitment to these activities throughout his College career.

He has epitomized that type of College boy who is not necessarily the celebrity, soloist or the front man, but who, through utter determination and unabashed love of interests, whether they be singing or treating injured players on the field, has strengthened the fabric of these aspects of College’s cultural life.

Matthew has successfully raised the profile of Culture at College and has worked hard to put systems in place to make things function more efficiently. He has administered the First Aid Club very ably and tracked the boys’ hours: a thankless and time-consuming task. He undertook, in his role of Culture and Ceremonies Portfolio Prefect, to conduct an audit of the involvement of boys in cultural activities in each House, providing the CEMA Committee with valuable information. In this role, as well as his leadership of the Choirs, he has shown initiative and made a tangible impact.

Matthew has proved himself as an effective administrator, inspiring motivator and intelligent leader. He gets a job done unobtrusively and efficiently, he communicates well and has creative ideas, which he is able to see through to completion. He certainly has set a fine example of reliability, dependability and commitment.

Matthew is, without question, a most deserving recipient of the award of the prestigious CEMA Service Honours Award.
