The annual Quadrangular Athletics meeting was held on Saturday 19th September at Graeme College. This competition is unique in that most of the track events involve relays, and for the field events the best distance or height from each team member is added to generate a team total. It is therefore very much a team effort with every competitor contributing to the outcome.
The St Andrew’s team was very competitive on the day and came very close in a number of disciplines. Unfortunately, a better prepared team from Grey High proved just too strong and they managed to win most of the events.
After the 13 events, Grey High was crowned as the undisputed winners. St Andrew’s, Graeme and Kingswood were left to fight it out for the second spot on the podium. The final standings were as follows: Grey High 1st, followed by St Andrew’s, Kingswood and Graeme in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively.
Our special thanks go out to Graeme College for hosting a well organised athletics meeting.
