A Farewell to Mr Deon Boschoff

Mr Boshoff and his wife Caroline came to College from Kearsney College, KZN, in 1999. They have spent the last 17 years at St Andrew’s and all three of their sons have been educated in this fine institution, progressing through the Pre-Primary, St Andrew’s Prep and finally, College.

He has always been involved in many aspects of the school. He taught Afrikaans, was Housemaster of Armstrong for seven years and has coached a great deal of sport. He was Master in Charge of Water Polo and was the 1st XV Rugby coach for four years among various other endeavours.

Deon is passionate about outdoor excursions and has held the post of Director of Outdoor Education for the past nine years. He participated in ten of the epic John Jones Fish River Journeys and was Master in Charge of the Journey for seven years. The development of the outdoor education facility at Table Farm which will be utilised by many College boys in the years to come, has been largely due to his vision, energy, perseverance and commitment to outdoor education. The school owes him a huge debt of gratitude for this superb undertaking.

He is well recognised for his prowess at endurance challenges such as Triathlons and the Iron Man, and we salute him for the example he has set in these disciplines.

We wish Mr Boshoff and his wife Caroline everything of the best for their future as they depart on Saturday to teach at Guangzhou Huadu Yew Wah School, in China.
