College travelled to Uitenhage to play their final fixture for the 2015 season. Muir College were great hosts and the weather played the part.
The game started with Muir applying all the pressure, they scored the opening try letting the our boys know they were going to have to play well to win. The game went from one end to the other with St Andrew’s holding on to a slender lead of 19 – 14 at half time. Three tries were scored by Matt Stopforth, Max Kieser and Tom Lane, with Ross Ferguson adding two conversions.
The second half was better from the our side when they decided to up their tempo and urgency. We still leaked a couple of soft tries but the rugby we were playing was much better. Tom Lane opened the scoring with a fine break just after the break, this was followed by a great switch to set up Malcolm Pringle’s try. The last try was set up by some deft touches and speed of hand by Aidan Stoll to put Grant Dixie away untouched. Ross Ferguson converted all three tries to round off an excellent day for the rugby club. Final score 40 – 24
The club enjoyed a good day, winning all 8 games. Special mention must be made of the U15s who lost this fixture as a team last year to bounce back and win 41 – 0 this time round.
